What is SecureUSB?

SecureUSB is a product offering the best of Open Source Software and NSA level and above encryption to give users privacy and secure storage for files on the go.

What programs come on the USB drive?

Our Standard drive, available in almost any size, comes pre setup with TorPark for web browsing, Thunderbird with Enigmail for secure email, GAIM with the Off the Record Plugin for secure Instant Messaging for Yahoo!, MSN and others. It also includes Abiword for Microsoft Office compatible Word Processing.

Other programs are available, we will contact you when you order to determine what you want.

How much storage will be available on the drive?

By default, we try to leave about 1/3 of the drive available unencrypted for simple file storage and transfers. The encrypted portion is home to the programs on the drive so there will be some space not available. If you have specific needs, please let us know when you order or when we contact you after purchase.

What encryption options are available?

SecureUSB drives use TrueCrypt for encryption, so at the time of writing supports:

  • AES
  • Blowfish <- Default
  • CAST5
  • Serpent
  • Triple DES
  • Twofish
  • AES-Twofish
  • AES-Twofish-Serpent
  • Serpent-AES
  • Serpent-Twofish-AES
  • Twofish-Serpent

What is Plausible Deniability?

From Wikipedia:

In cryptography, deniable encryption may be used to describe steganographic techniques, where the very existence of an encrypted file or message is deniable in the sense that an adversary cannot prove that an encrypted message exists.

Some systems take this further, such as MaruTukku and TrueCrypt archives which contain multiple encrypted archives. The owner of the archive may reveal one or more keys to decrypt certain information from the archive, and then deny that more keys exist, a statement which cannot be disproven without knowledge of all encryption keys involved. The existence of data in this archive is then deniable in the sense that it cannot be proven to exist.

What this means to you is all our drives are available setup with several levels of plausible deniability.

Isn't it illegal to sell Open Source Software?

Depending on the license of said software, yes. We are not worried about infringing copyrights because we are not selling you the software, we are selling you a drive with the software pre-installed. You must accept the licenses for all the software on your drive before purchase.

If you're just selling me the drive, can't I make my own?

Yes you can, we are just selling the drives to support the website and our development activites. We will provide support to all drives sold for the life of the drive, but we are limited to the manufacturer's warranty for replacements. We will also provide a detailed tutorial on how to create your own drive because we believe they are very useful.

Is there an easy way to load the programs on the drive?

Yes, all purchased drives will come with a customized menu program to make it easy for you to run all the programs on the drive.
